Is Bibliotherapy right for you?
Dealing with grief and trauma can be a difficult and overwhelming experience. It can feel like you're alone and no one truly understands...
I’m Thelma and I specialize in grief and trauma. I understand how challenging it can be to navigate life’s struggles. I love helping adults just like you: ones who have had life-changing experiences and need some help to make sense of it all.

I am a compassionate and experienced grief and trauma therapist who understands the complexities of living between two cultures. As a bicultural Mexican-American, I have a deep understanding of the challenges that come with balancing cultural traditions and beliefs while coping with the pain of loss and trauma. I understand the effects of concepts such as “ni de aqui, ni de alla” or “neither from here or there” and ‘no sabo kids’ have on bicultural individuals.

I am dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing space where clients can feel heard, seen, and understood. With a warm and empathetic approach, I work collaboratively with my clients to explore their feelings and experiences, providing guidance and support as they navigate their healing journey.

Whether you are struggling with the loss of a loved one, a traumatic event, or the many other challenges that life can bring, I am here to help. With a deep respect for both Mexican and American cultures, I am committed to honoring your unique experiences and helping you find the strength and resilience to move forward.
As a therapist, my goal is to help my clients find confidence, meaning, and harmony in their lives. I equip them with the tools they need to feel secure, confident, and better capable to manage their oftentimes overwhelming and conflicting feelings while always honoring their culture and values. Together, we can work towards a brighter and more fulfilling future.

Many of today’s solutions are to “push away the difficult feelings” and "just be positive", leading so many to feel isolated, confused, and insecure. I know that your circumstances are unique, so I will work with you to process, explore and develop coping skills with your values and goals front of mind.

First, we will explore the various factors that may be contributing to concerns. Then, we help you develop an effective plan to help you cope with your unique life challenges and emotions. Through our work together, you’ll develop a greater understanding of yourself leading to growth and self-compassion.
My training and experiences as a grief and trauma therapist mean I have the expertise you need and deserve when coping with complex life challenges. But at the end of the day, you want to know you’re working with someone who “gets” what it means to struggle to cope in today’s world.

I know how hard it is to feel lost, lonely, anxious, sad, and disconnected. So, when we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist, you’ll get someone who truly understands what you’re going through. As a somatic and attachment-focused EMDR-trained therapist, Certified Grief Counselor, and Bibliotherapist (learn more about Bibliotherapy here), I am confident we can meet your objectives.
